The Walpole Police Department has been fielding numerous calls and inquires from concerned citizens about an email that is circulating in regards to what the email claims, is a sex offender released from prison that does not have to register. The subject line of the email insinuates that it is coming from our department.
The email mentions a news report from WPRI in Rhode Island, about a loop-hole in that State's legal system in regards to registered sex offenders, and includes a picture of a man, but no name.
This email was sent by the Walpole Police Department.

As you will see from the news report, this situation does not involve a Massachusetts resident, or Massachusetts law, and is in no way connected to the Town of Walpole. You will also see in the news report that the man for which the story was created, is in fact, in prison at the time of this update.
The email that is circulating in regards to this news story is claiming that it originated from the Walpole Police Department. The reason for this is most likely to lure unsuspecting people to open it, and again was not created by this department, sent by this department, nor does it have anything to do with the Town of Walpole, or the Massachusetts Sexual Offender Registry.
