The Walpole Police Department currently employs 37 sworn law enforcement personnel, including the Chief of Police, Deputy and Lieutenants, as well as Detectives, Patrol Supervisors and Patrol Officers.
In addition, the department also offers other opportunities to it's sworn personnel, such as being on the Bike Patrol, or the Motorcycle. - Applicants interested in taking an entry-level police officer civil service exam must complete an application, which are available by contacting the Human Resources Division at
- Applicants must then take, and pass a competitive written examination held by the State.
- Prospective candidates for employment to the Walpole Police Department are then selected from this list based on score.
- Those applicants who are selected from the list for possible employment, must also successfully complete a medical examination, a physical ability test and a psychological evaluation, prior to being accepted for employment.
