MetroLEC - K9

-Canine Unit-

The Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council is fortunate to have several Canine Units (K9) available for deployment throughout it's member communities.  With the evolution of law enforcement, these important assets are in increasing demand, and are an invaluable tool in maintaining the safety of both the public and law enforcement officers alike.  Canines possess unique skills, such as enhanced senses, and when needed, can act as a deterrent to criminals.  When you combine these traits, with the guidance of an experienced law enforcement handler and years of intense training, you have an extremely beneficial addition to the team.

-What They Offer-

Canine Units have the capabilities to provide many different functions to the member communities, such as:

  • to search for missing or lost persons
  • to search for hidden suspects
  • to track and apprehend fleeing suspects
  • to search for evidence or property connected with a crime
  • to search for illegal drugs
  • to protect the handler, other officers and citizens
  • to act as a deterrent and back up in dangerous situations

Having a skilled K9 Unit on your side can mean the difference between success and failure during certain situations, and the Metropolitan Law Enforcement Council is fortunate to have some dedicated and skilled units in it's arsenal.
