
The Walpole Police Department has 2 Detectives actively investigating serious crimes in Walpole, as well as another Detective assigned full-time as our departments representative at Wrentham Court, as the Court Prosecutor. The Detective Division is supervised directly by a Detective Sergeant, as well as the Deputy Chief. Our detectives are all trained extensively in criminal investigation, crime scene procedures, and countless other areas of expertise that are needed to handle an involved investigation. In addition, each detective is actively involved in a specific specialization, increasing their training and knowledge even further.
It is the responsibility of the Detective Division to investigate serious crimes, and to look further into incidents that are initially handled by the Patrol Division. The Detective Division consists of:
The supervisor of the Detective Division, Sgt. Anderson is responsible for reviewing all incidents that are reported to the department, determining which incidents require further attention, and then assigning cases to his detectives. Sgt. Anderson, as supervisor of the division, is also responsible for overseeing evidence procedures, crime scene photography, and a long list of other facets of the department.
Det. Bausch is the department's main narcotic investigator. Det. Bausch has a substantial amount of specialized training, on countless different subjects involved with handling drug investigations, not to mention his extensive experience. Det. Bausch also actively participates in a regional drug task force that has been responsible for putting away many area drug dealers.
Det. O'Connell is the department's main investigator for all sexual assault, and child abuse cases. Det. O'Connell has attended a vast amount of specialized training in those fields, and combined with his close work with the Norfolk County District Attorney's Office and Department of Social Services, has handled many serious cases for the department. Det. O'Connell has also received training in homicide investigation, and acts as our suspicious death investigator. In addition, Det. O'Connell is a member of the MetroLEC Investigative Services Unit, a region wide task force responsible for investigating serious crimes throughout MetroLEC member communities.
Det. Madden is the Court Prosecutor and Walpole Police representative at the Wrentham District Court. In his duties, Det. Madden maintains all criminal case files, and is responsible for scheduling officers for court appearances. Det. Madden works closely with the Assistant District Attorneys at the courthouse, to make sure that each and every case brought forth by the department is properly prepared for prosecution.
